"public park"

In the Census, ‘public park’ does not refer to the large, wilderness-type national parks. Instead, it refers to the smaller, local urban park which often includes an area for children to play, or a few small trails, or a fountain, or perhaps a picnic area. For the purpose of the Census, larger in-city parks are included in this definition. In New York, this would include Central Park.
