Social media are not a ‘source’ of information, they are just the vehicle. As such, one can never say that a social medium is a source of news or information. Their content is written by users. Therefore, ‘news’ on social media is always a second or third degree piece of information. For this Census, ‘social media posts’ are considered more opinion than fact.
